Materials needed:

- Plywood 8-10 mm thick for the tree and Father
- plywood 4 mm thick for the details
- 4 thick pieces of wood cut into block shapes (these will
  be the gifts)
- thick piece of pine board for the base measuring
  30 cm x 12 cm
- paint in the following colors: dark green, beige,
  dark red, and brown
- drill with 3,2 mm bit
- larger bit with the same diameter of the sockets of the
  lights (approx. 8 mm in diameter)
- screws 35 mm x 4.0 cm long
- red wooden half bead for the nose
- thin gold wire for the gifts
- scroll saw
- sandpaper
- paintbrushes
- old toothbrush
- wood glue
- light strand with 10 white lights

Wood Craft for Christmas - Scroll Saw Project - “Lighted Father Christmas Decoration”

Father Christmas is a traditional seasonal figure and is well loved by children. Create this decoration to fill your home with Christmas cheer. for your home. The lights give this project a special glowing touch but you can choose not to use them.

The height of this tree measures: 28.5 cm
The height of Father Christmas measures: 22 cm
The total height of the decoration measures: 31 cm

Instructions:

1. Print out your patterns. Trace them on the appropriate wood pieces. The tree and Father Christmas on the 10 mm plywood and the beard, mustache und coat piece on the 4mm plywood.
2. Paint all of the pieces in the appropriate colors.
3. If you choose, after the pieces are dried, you can sprinkle beige paint on the pieces using an old toothbrush. This adds a nice effect to the decoration.
4. Dry brush the edges of all of the pieces with a contrast color to give them an aged look.
5. Glue the detail pieces onto Father Christmas once all of the pieces are dried.
6. Paint eyes on Father Christmas and glue the red half bead on for his nose.
7. Drill 10 holes in the tree for the lights.
8. Drill 1 hole in the bottom of the tree, 2 holes in the bottom of Father Christmas, and one hole in each of the 4 gifts.
9. Wrap each of the gifts with gold wire like a present.
10. Drill appropriate holes in the bottom piece and screw the pieces to the bottom piece for stability. You may also glue the pieces additionally to guarantee that they are stable.
11. Stick the lights through the holes of the tree.
