Peppermint Candy Striped Cone Trees
We love the colors of red and white at Christmas time and the twine used for this project was screaming “use me” for this idea. This craft is quickly done and is fun to make, as well. Here a wooden base was added to give the trees more height, but these are not mandatory, if you do not want them.

For this project the following supplies were used:
- thick red and white striped twine - polystyrene or paper cones measuring 7 x 12 centimeters (or a size of your choice) - hot glue gun - silicone mat to put the hot glue gun on (has the advantage that any glue that gets on it can be peeled off when cooled down)
- if you want to give the trees a base, 2 wooden candle cups, white paint and a paint brush - embellishments like stars or “ornaments” if you like to decorate the trees further
|
|
Instructions:
1. Heat up the glue gun. Start at the bottom of the cone and add dots of glue along the bottom edge. Press the first row of twine along the bottom edge. Try not to touch the cone with the gun if possible, as the cone can easily melt. Continue adding the glue in this manner, working your way up to the top of the cone. Once you reach the top, cut the end and swirl the end to close of the top of the cone.
2. The trees also look cute without the bases.

The snowman seen here in this image fits perfectly to the colors of the tree. The projects can be found here > Cute Snowmen on Christmas-Projects.com!
The same twine was also used for these ornaments. The project can be found here > Candy Striped Ornaments
