Wood Craft for Autumn - Wooden Scarecrow Decoration

He is not doing a very good job at keeping the crows away but is doing a better just being a fall decoration. On the pattern, the sign saying is a different one than the one in the picture. You can use it or simply shorten the sides and change the text as needed.

For this project you will need:

- plywood 6 mm thick
- wood 18 mm thick for the base

Instructions:

1. Print out the pattern and transfer the markings on to the wood and saw out.
2. Use the picture as reference and paint the pieces accordingly.
3. Drybrush shading or highlights on all of the pieces. Black was used for brown, white for blue and black and brown for dark yellow.
4. Once all of the pieces are dry, drill two holes through the small sign. Paint “Go Crow” on the sign and then glue the crow to the sign. Wrap a piece of wire around the back of the scarecrow neck and insert the two ends in the two holes of the sign. Spiral curl the ends to keep the sign in place.
5. Paint the face, let it dry and then hot glue hay on for hair. Glue then the hat onto the face.
6. Wrap ribbon around the neck and tie off as a scarf.
7. Drill a hole in the base of the scarecrow as well as into the base piece and screw the base to the scarecrow from underneath.
