Colorful Stars Window Decoration for Christmas

These are so easy to make and look so pretty, no matter what color you choose to make them. You can make your papers with Christmas colors and stencils to fit the season.

For this project you will need:

- a pencil
- hand painted deli papers you create* (see below)
- clear contact paper
- templates of stars or star cookie cutters

* How to prepare the deli papers:


1. A used plastic store card or gift card was first used to apply different colors of paint to several deli papers. Either place paint directly onto the card or simply pour drops of paint onto the paper and pull the paint with the card for bold colorful prints.

2. Then let the paints dry before continuing.

3. Once these were dry, the papers were stencilled with several different stencils (you can create your own with paper punches and die cuts. The negative spaces make great stencils. You can also use round caps of bottles to print circles, too. Let the pages dry in between coats. Then you can splatter and sprinkle paint onto the pages for even more effect. Each new layer makes the page more interesting. Once the final coat is dry, continue with the instructions below to create the stars.

Instructions: 1. This is a finished painted deli paper. Cut a piece of contact foil that is slightly larger than the sheet. 2. Then remove the paper backing from the foil and place the foil with the sticky side up on the table for a moment. 3. Place the finished deli paper on the table, facing up, and then pick up the foil and cover the whole front side of the paper. 4. Turn the paper over and then cut away the excess foil hanging over the edge of the paper. 5. Either print out templates or use cookie cutters and trace the shapes on the back of the paper. 6. Cut out the shapes. These can then be hung in the window using a rolled piece of sticky tape that is placed on the backside of the paper shape.

Each star is a one of a kind.
