Knitted Beanie Cap With Black and Grey Stripes

This beanie is a good knitting project for beginners. The yarn is really thick which means it is quickly finished and after you create the ribbed edge, it is then only knitting stitches until the end. The beanie only has 34 rows in total. It is created using 5 double-pointed needles. You can also make it with circular needles instead if you are more comfortable with them.

Ribbing Stitch for this beanie:
All Rows using this stitch
- Alternate Knit 1, Purl 1 until the end of the row.

Stockinette Stitch for this beanie:
All rows are done with the knitting stitch only.

Instructions for this beanie: Because you are knitting with double-pointed needles, you are working in rounds and your work will always be facing you on the right side.

Cast on 40 stitches (10 on each needle) and close the loop when you start the first row.

Rows 1-6 will be done in the “Ribbing Stitch”. (description above) in the color of black

Rows 7-24 will be done in the “Stockinette Stitch”. (description above). The stripes are created by knitting 2 rows of black and one row of grey, alternating.

Now it is time to decrease the amount of stitches. Continue only in the stockinette stitch. (description above). The remaining stitches will only be done in the color of black.

Row 25 - Knit every two stitches together. Now you have 20 stitches left in total.

Row 26 - Knit all stitches.

Row 27 - Knit all stitches.

Row 28 - Knit every two stitches together. Now you have only 10 stitches left.

Cut your yarn at a 15 cm or 6 inch length and place the end through a thick sewing needle. Pull the needle through all the remaining stitches and close off. Sew the end of the yarn on the wrong side of the hat to secure it. Sew the other yarn ends to the inside of the hat to secure them.

The backside of the beanie - the stiches look irregular because the yarn is so.
