Easy Knitted Cowl

This cowl is finished in one evening... actually you only need a couple of hours to complete it. It is extremely soft and snuggly and just the right accessory for cold winter days. For beginners it is a great project because of the thick wool used, the basic stitches and the minimal time needed to knit it.

Materials used for this cowl:

- 150 grams or 3 balls of Lana Grossa Yarn “Pertutti” in the color 004 “Jeans” (If you cannot get this particular yarn, look for a
  similar yarn. Details about the yarn used are listed below.
- circular knitting needles 15mm (metric) or US 19

Stitching gauge with needle number 15 (Metric) using the pattern: 6 Stitches x 12 Rows = 10 cm high und 10 cm wide

Size of finished cowl: 84 cm long if open (42 cm long if closed as a circle) und 18 cm wide

Yarn information: 50 grams = 25 meters length
                             53% Virgin Wool und 47% Acrylic

Knitting Pattern: 

1. Row and all odd numbered rows - alternating Knit 1, Purl 1 until the end of the row                          
2. Row and all even numbered rows - alternating Purl 1, Knit 1 until the end of the row

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until completed.

Instructions for this cowl:

Cast on 50 stitches and close the loop. Because you are working in a circle, your work will always be facing you and there will be no turning. To make it easier to determine where the beginning of a row is, place a marker at the first stitch. Work in rounds using the pattern mentioned above. Knit 20 rows or approximately 18 cm and then loosely bind off.

Tip: This cowl can be double wrapped around the neck and fits very snuggly. You can add 10 - 20 more stitches to the needle if you would like it to be somewhat looser when double wrapped.

Teddy feels so snuggy warm and decided to keep the cowl for himself.
