Summer Crafts - Wood Crafts - Scroll Saw Projects - Seahorse, Seaweed and Seashell Wall Decoration

The ocean is full of fascinating plants and animals that can be used as inspiration to create wooden items for your home. Not only are there fish to be found under the sea. One  can also find great motifs such as seahorses, seaweed and seashells. This decoration can be hung either on the wall, hung freely in a room like a mobile or hung in a window. If creating it as a mobile or for a window, paint both sides so that it looks good from any perspective.

Instructions:

1. Print your pattern out and transfer the outer markings onto to the plywood. Cut the figures out accordingly and sand them if necessary.
2. Base coat the seahorse and seashell in beige on both sides and basecoat the seaweed in medium green on both sides. Let everything dry before continuing.
3. Transfer the inner markings now lightly on the seashell and seahorse with the pencil and drybrush these markings with dark brown and also along the outer edges.
4. Thin the dark green paint with water and brush on the seaweed. Let it dry.
5. Drybrush the outer edges of the seaweed with white. Try to lightly drybrush inner areas with white as well to give it more depth.
6. Drill holes in the tops of the seahorse and seashell and in the 2 bottom leaves of the seaweed. Attach the pieces together using the wire.
7. Find the center point of the seaweed and drill a hole at that point. Insert a wire to be used for hanging.
