Instructions:
1. First you will base coat your pot in the dark contrast color. Here navy blue was chosen to match the napkin. 2. Once your pot is dry, paint a coat of cracking medium on just the under part of the pot. Leave the top border as is. 3. Here comes the fun part! Once the cracking medium is dry, take your wide soft paint brush and dip it into the white paint. Stroke in one direction over the cracking medium. Immediately you will notice the paint starting to crack. Do not stroke the paint over the same place twice or the effect will be ruined. Continue until the section if covered and put aside to dry. 4. Once the paint is dry, you can continue with the decoupage techinque. Tear the paper napkin edges so that they are soft and natural. A straight line does not look well. Remove all but the top layer of the tissue or napkin and follow the tutorial here Paper Napkin Applique or Decoupage Technique to continue adding your motif. You can cover the whole pot with the napkin (you will need to tear a few pieces) or maybe just use one motif and cover one spot. Experiment to get the look you like.
