Kitchen Canvas Picture
An easy way to create new wall decorations for any room in the house is by applying paper napkins to stretched canvas pictures. Here an extra step was taken to create an antique looking picture by adding a crackling medium to the canvas.

For this project you will need:
- stretched canvas 40 x 40 cm - paper napkins or tissues with kitchen motif like the napkin in the image
- white acrylic paint - dark contrast color (blue acrylic paint was used in this case but the color will depend on the basic color of the napkin you are using - cracking medium - soft wide paintbrushes - paper napkin applique glue or decoupage glue of choice |
|
Instructions:
1. First you will base coat your canvas in the dark contrast color. 2. Once your canvas is dry, paint it with a coat of cracking medium and let it dry overnight. 3. Here comes the fun part! Once the cracking medium is dry, take your wide soft paint brush and dip it into the white paint. Stroke in one direction over the cracking medium. Immediately you will notice the paint starting to crack. Do not stroke the paint over the same place twice or the effect will be ruined. Continue until the canvas is covered. Put aside to dry. 4. Once the paint is dry, you can continue with the decoupage techinque. Cut the paper napkin quarter and discard all but the top layer and follow the tutorial here to apply the napkin to the canvas. Let the decoration dry completely before hanging.
