Votive with Glass Nuggets

Create a romantic light for the warm summer evenings with this votive candle glass decoration. This summer craft project is inexpensive, quick and easy to do. It also makes a great group project for teens and adults alike. When the light shines through the spaces between the nuggets, it looks gorgeous. You can also change colors or use different colors of nuggets for a totally new look.

For this project you will need:

- a clean glass such as a whiskey glass or recycled marmelade or mustard glass
- assorted glass nuggets in colors of choice (use at least two different colors or clear and opaque nuggets of the same color)
- special glue for gluing glass to glass that is available in your country

These are examples of the glass nuggets.

Instructions:

Tip: For this project, dot a pearl size amount of glue on one nugget at a time with the hot glue gun. Then press the nugget firmly to the glass.

1. Start at the top of the glass. For the first row, add the nuggets in your choice of color. Continue until the first row is finished.
2. On the second row and all rows beyond, add the colors as you like. The glass with the blue and clear nuggets start with two rows of blue, two rows of clear and then three rows of blue. The glass with the green and clear nuggets alternate the color for each row.

These lights sparkle create pretty patterns when lit in a dark room.

This is a second variation of the votive candle glass made in this style. The glass nuggets give the otherwise plain glass a elegant look to it. These are easy to create and make also great group projects.
