Melting Beads Hearts
Kids in the USA can create these hearts for Independence Day and kids of other nations can make these in the colors of their own flags. They are easy to make using a square melting bead peg board and pegs in the color of choice. Parents can iron the finished to keep the project safe.

For this project you will need:
- melting beads peg board with at least 30 x 30 pegs - melting beads in the colors of blue, red and white or colors of choice - iron and baking paper (parents or supervisors should do the ironing to avoid accidents or burns) - ironing board

Instructions:
1. Follow the pattern and place the beads on the peg board to create a heart. 2. When finished, place a sheet of baking paper over the heart (this will protect the beads from sticking to the iron while ironing) and iron over the heart back and forth for a few seconds at the hottest temperature until the beads fuse together. Let it cool down for a couple of minutes. Before removing the heart from the peg board, make sure that all pieces are sticking together. 3. Now remove the heart from the board and place it on the baking paper on the ironing board so that the front side you just ironed is now facing down. Cover the back side also with baking paper and then iron the heart again to fuse it on the backside. This will make it more durable. Remove the figure then from the paper once it is slightly cooled down and place it on the working table under a few books to weigh it down until it is completely cool. This helps the heart to remain flat and keeps it from curling up while cooling. 4. You can now hang a string at the top bead to hang the heart in the window.
