Summer and all Occasion Craft for Kids - Chenille Teddy Bear Plant Stick / Bookmarker / Puppet
Isn’t this bear adorable and cuddly! Chenille is the perfect material for creating this project and makes the bear almost look real. Kids will have fun with this project. He is also great to use as a puppet in a puppet show. This bear also looks great in other colors. Why not create a white bear as a polar bear, or a black and white panda bear? This bear would make a cute Valentine’s Day craft as well. Cut out a stiff felt heart and glue it to his hands for an extra touch.

For this project you will need:

- 4 x 50 cm or 20 inch dark brown chenille
  stems
- 1 craft stick
- glue gun (supervision is always advised
when kids are using a glue gun)
- craft knife
- 2 x 4 mm black wooden beads
- thin red ribbon for the bow

Recommended for ages 9 and above

Time Required: Approximately 15-20 minutes

Instructions:

1. Braid three chenille stems together.
2. Cut a 15 cm or 6 inch piece of the stem off. Curl both stems in a snail shape.
3. Holding the small snail shaped curl together, glue it to the top of the craft stick. This will be the head.
4. Now hold the larger snail shape together and glue it below the head.
5.
Parents help with this step: place one black bead on the table with the hole facing up. Use the craft knife and press down on the hole causing the bead to divide in half.
6. Glue both halves on the face as eyes. Repeat this to make a nose. For that you will only need one half bead. Glue this on after you complete step 7.
7. Take the 4th chenille stem and cut 3 x 6 cm lengths. Roll each of these into snail shapes and glue two on the head for ears and one on the face as the bear snout. Now you can glue the nose on the snout.
8. With the remaining piece of chenille, cut it in half. Fold each half in half. Glue the open ends at the shoulder of the body to be arms.
9. Create a bow and tie it around the bear’s neck for the final touch.
