Paper Crafts - Summer Crafts - Patriotic Crafts - American Flag Plant Poke

If you like to decorate your home for the 4th of July or even just to show your American spirit, this project is fun for kids and adults alike.  The technique is so simple and the project takes about an hour to complete.

Paper Craft - American Flag Plant Poke

For this project you will need:

- tissue paper in the colors of red, white and blue
- heavy cardstock or cereal box
- wooden stick or shishkabob skewer
- liquid glue for the flag
- hot glue gun (parental assistance required) or strong wood glue for gluing the stick on

Craft Pattern:

American Flag

American Flag Template

Instructions:

1. Print out the pattern to a size you like and glue the copy to a piece transfer it to a piece of heavy duty cardstock or cardboard. Cut around the outer edges of the flag part, omitting the pole.
2. The inner markings are to be used as a guide and do not have to be followed perfectly.
3. To start off, tear each colored tissue paper into small 1 inch pieces and create a wad with each piece. Add a good amount of glue to the first area you wish to fill. Adhere the wads next to each other filling up the spaces and making sure not to leave any openings. Continue following the pattern until the flag is filled.
4. Glue the backside of the flag to a stick and let the glue thoroughly dry.
