1. Iron the interfacing to the backsides of the clutch lining fabric pieces and on the backside of the flap lining piece.
2. With the right sides facing, pin the flap pieces together.
3. Sew around the side and rounded bottom edge of the flap. Leave top edge open.
4. Clip the curved area of the rounded bottom edge. This makes the corner look nicer when turned and ironed.
5. Turn the flap and then iron it flat. Top stitch along the sewn edge once you are finished ironing it. Then set this piece aside for a moment.
6. Now pin both outside pieces together with the right sides facing and sew along the side and bottom edges of both parts.
Repeat the same for the lining.
Now you have one each of an lining clutch and an outside clutch.
7. You now have an open square on each corner of the clutch. On each the outside clutch and lining clutch, pull this square open and match the side seam to the bottom seam on both sides and sew across the edge. This closes the corner and creates a floor to the bag. The clutch becomes a little smaller in height because of this step as well.
You can see more detailed images of how this step looks like here.
8. Turn the outside clutch to the right side.
9. Pin the flap piece with the side you wish to be on the outside of the bag against the right side of the clutch.
10. In this case, the printed side will be the outside flap side. The fabric for the outside of the clutch is black.
11. Then insert the black clutch and place in the lining clutch. The right sides of each clutch are facing each other and the flap is sandwiched in between both clutch pieces.
12. Pin all around the top of the clutch.
13. Sew along the top of the clutch, and leave an opening along the top edge for turning the clutch.
14. Then turn the clutch through the opening and pull the clutch in place.
15. This is how the bag looks like when opened. The inside flap and the bag exterior are black. The clutch interior and the outside flap are printed.
Top stitch all along the outside of the clutch (where the hand is) to hold the clutch layers nicely in place.
16. Use the snap setter to place two top snap parts on the clutch flap. Position them where you would like to have them.
17. Then figure where the the other snap halves will be located at on the clutch to close it properly. Use the snap setter and set the bottoms snap halves.
18. The clutch is now finished and ready to be used.
