1. Cut 4 green fabric strips each measuring 4cm x 40 cm. Cut also 4 white fabric strips each measuring 4 x 40 cm. Sew a green strip onto a white strip using a 0,7 cm seam allowance (approximately the width of the presser foot) and alternate sewing new strips on until all strips are used.
2. Iron the piece flat by pressing the seams always towards the green color so that they will not show through on the front side.
3. Take your quilter’s ruler and rollcutter and cut the piece into 4 cm wide strips.
4. You will now have 8 pieces cut out.
5. Lay your appliqued block on the table in front of you with the right side up. Now lay one of the strips onto the block with the good side down. Pin the strip and sew using a 1cm seam allowance.
6. Sew the second side now on opposite of the first side. Press the seams flat and then cut 1 cm off the width of each strip. Sew now the other 2 strips on, press flat and also cut 1 cm away from the width.
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 to the other block. Iron it smooth and then lay it on the table with the good side facing down. Measure the block and cut a piece of batting the same size. Lay it on the block and then lay the top block on these layers with the good side up.
8. Baste through all 3 layers along the entire outer edge using thread and needle.
