Plastic Canvas Santa Claus Ornament

Creating ornaments with plastic canvas is not only easy but fun, as well. A Santa is always a perfect motif for a Christmas tree. A melting bead pattern was used for this project and it turned out wonderful.

For this project you will need:

- plastic canvas
- yarn: fringy red, white, tan and black
- blunt tapestry needle
- small scissors

Craft Templates: Santa Pattern

Instructions:

1. Count the horizontal and vertical rows of the pattern and cut out a piece of plastic canvas that is at least 2 squares larger in all directions. Make sure the Santa is centered on the plastic canvas and follow the pattern to create him..

2. When finished, trim down the plastic canvas so that there is a closed edge around each row. Then take the same color yarn and stitch around the area next to the area to give a nice clean edge for the figure. Add a red yarn loop to the top to hang him on the tree.

The red fringy yarn make the figure more whimsical.
