Upcycling Gift Wrap Tubes - Gift Wrap Tube Santa Craft

Looks like Santa has been on a diet this year.

When you are wrapping presents for Christmas, you will surely have paper tubes left over from the rolls of Christmas wrapping paper. Why throw them away when you can create a long whimsical Santa with them?

For this project you will need:

- paper tube leftover from gift wrapping
- red, white, peach, green, gold and black felt sheets
- white wool cord
- red button
- 1 set of wiggly eyes
- a side of a cardboard box for the base
- glue that can be used for felt
- hot glue gun
- scissors
- ruler

Mitten Template - the length should be printed out to about 5 centimeters

Before you begin: First cut your felt into the following sizes: (the “13 centimeters” is based on the circumference of the tube used plus 1 centimeter overlap. If your tube is wider or narrower, adjust this width accordingly) 13 x 30 centimeters of red felt for the hat 7 x 13 centimeters of peach colored felt for the face 5 x 13 centimeters of white felt (2x) for the hat cuff... and for the base of the coat 13 centimeters x length of rest of the tube of red felt for the Santa coat 1.5 centimeters x length of rest of the tube of white felt for the trim down the middle of the coat 3 x 13 centimeters of black felt for the belt 4 x 4  centimeters of gold felt for the belt buckle 6 x 30 centimeters of red felt for the arms 1.5 x 6 centimeters of white felt for the arm cuff   Cut several 30 centimeter lengths of wool cord for the hair and beard     Illustrated Craft Tutorial: Gift Wrap Tube Santa Tutorial

Santa feels at home amongst the Christmas decorations.

This angel and the Santa were both made using a gift wrap tube. A great way to upcycle these after the wrapping paper is used up. The angel can be found here.
