Textured Memory Game to First Craft and Then Play

This is a fun and playful way to familiarize small kids with different textures and surfaces. After cutting the memory block squares, you then need to find materials of all sorts to adhere to them. Once the blocks are all covered, then the playing can begin.

For this project you will need:

- either a blank memory game set or cut thirty 7 x 7 cm (approximately 2.8 inches) squares of stable cardboard - you may
  of course make the squares larger or smaller according to your needs
- craft glue and fabric glue if necessary
- materials to use such as wallpaper scraps, felt, burlap, sheets of cork, sandpaper, metal sheets, newspaper, scrapbook
  paper, mesh, different types of ribbon, jeans, towel material, rubber sheets, silk, holographic paper, aida fabric, any other
  kind of textured paper, canvas paper or whatever else you may have in your home that can be easily glued to cardboard

Recommended Ages: 6 and up

Instructions:

1. Pair off your squares and then place a thin layer of glue on the first pair of squares. Place these then face down onto the backside of the texture you have chosen and press to adhere. Turn the squares over and cut along the edge to get rid of the excess fabric. Continue doing this to each of your fabric squares until all of them are used up.

There is no limit to the textures you can use.
