If you have ever spent vacation in southern European countries, you will notice how the earth tone colors dominate the architecture and the art works. These colors of reds, oranges and browns have a warm and natural feeling to them. The forms are simple and quaint. If you like this look, let this painting inspire you to create your own picture.
For this project you will need:
- stretched canvas 2.5 cm thick and 40x50 cm in size various wood shapes like vases, flowers, leaves and other decorative elements if desired - acrylic paints in orange, beige, red, brown and gold - wood glue
1. Base coat the canvas and while the paint is still wet, paint in all of the other colors (except gold) in a wet-in-wet technique. Let the canvas dry. 2. Paint all of the wooden parts first in red and then mix brown into the red to give the pieces dimension. Let the pieces thoroughly dry. 3. Glue the wooden decorative elements onto the vase. 4. Now dry brush all of the wooden pieces with gold to give them a bit of shimmer. 5. Arrange and glue all of the pieces onto the canvas with the wood glue. 6. Paint gold colored stems extending out from the vase to the flowers/leaves.
