How to Cover Box Lids With Fabric

If you have boxes such as boxes of assorted chocolates or even shoe boxes, you can cover the lids with fabric and alter them into decorative looking storage containers or use them as gift packages. For this project, only the lids are being covered.

Material List:

- empty boxes with lids
- fabric of choice
- book binding glue (this glue is thick and when brushed on thinly and evenly, it does not seep through the fabric)
- flat paint brush
- scissors
- ruler

Instructions:

Measure the lid of your box plus the side walls and add 3 centimeters to these measurements. This particular box measured 16 x 16 centimeters. Therefore a piece of fabric the size of 25 x 25 centimeters was cut out. Now follow the tutorial in the link below to complete this project:

The bottom of the box was printed. To cover this up, a piece of card was cut to the size of the box and then adhered to it. This looks much nicer, especially when you wish to use the box as a gift box for someone else.
