Autumn Crafts for Kids - Thanksgiving Crafts - Easy Turkey Plant Poke
Ages 6 and older
Instead of landing on the Thanksgiving dinner table, this turkey found another another way to make himself useful! This craft is very easy for even small children to do because it only requires basic cutting and gluing skills.
Parental assistance is advised. Parents or supervisors can help reduce time by using hot glue to attach the turkey to the wooden skewer. Requires approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Materials needed:
- Corrugated cardboard: tan, brown, blue, green, red and dark yellow - cardstock in black - hole puncher - wooden skewer - scissors - craft glue

Instructions:
1. Print out the templates and follow the steps in the link above to make usable templates. 2. Trace and cut out the following pieces on the following colors:
a. the body twice on the tan corrugated cardboard
b. the feather pieces twice on the red, blue, green and brown corrugated cardboard
c. one beak on yellow corrugated cardboard 3. Glue the feathers on the backside of the first body piece. Start at the bottom on both sides of the body and work your way up until all of the feathers are used. 4. Glue the other body piece to the backside of the feathers. This will give the turkey more support and it also makes the back of the plant poke look nicer. 5. Glue the beak on the front side of the turkey. 6. Punch out 2 black eyes and glue them over the beak.
