Illustrated Craft Tutorial for Christmas - Gift Wrapping Tube Santa

This project consists mainly of cutting and gluing. It is very easy and fun, as well.

Tube Santa Tutorial 1

1. This is the cut 13 x 30 centimeter red felt piece that will be used for the hat. You will add a line of glue to the long side as well as add glue to the top 9 centimeters of the tube. Wrap and glue the around the top of the tube...

2. ...so that it looks like this.

The side where the seams meet will be the backside of the Santa. Continue using this side as the beginning and end of all of the remaining felt pieces that will be added to this project.

3. Then tie off the hanging end of the hat with a wool cord.

Glue on the 7 x 13 centimeter peach colored felt for the Santa face.

Tube Santa Tutorial 4

4. This is one of the two white 5 x 13 centimeter cuff pieces. Add a line of glue down one long side...

Tube Santa Tutorial 5

5. ...and fold and glue it over in half.

Repeat for the second piece that is this size and set it aside. It will be needed later.

Tube Santa Tutorial 6

6. Glue the first white cuff piece over the hat/ face so that it covers the seam where both colors meet.

Then glue the rest of the tube with the long felt piece (13 x length in centimeters).

Tube Santa Tutorial 7

7. Glue the white 1.5 x length in centimeters strip of white felt down the middle of the Santa coat.

Tube Santa Tutorial 8

8. Cover a red button with red felt and trim to the size of the button. Glue it on the face as a nose.

Tube Santa Tutorial 9

9. This will be the belt. Take your 4 x 4 centimeter square of gold felt and cut 2 slits in it about 1 centimeter from each edge.

Tube Santa Tutorial 10

10. Then slide the 3 x 13 piece of black felt through so it looks like a belt and belt buckle.

Then glue the belt on the Santa about 38 centimeters from the top edge of the tube.

Tube Santa Tutorial 11

11. Cut out 2 green mittens.

Take the two 6 x 30 centimeters cut pieces of red felt. These will be the arms. Glue a 1.5 x 6 centimeter white arm cuff at the end of each of the red pieces of felt. Before gluing it close, glue a mitten to each backside of the red felt pieces. Make sure each mitten is facing an opposite direction. Then glue the long side closed.

Tube Santa Tutorial 12

12. This is how the arms look like now.

Tube Santa Tutorial 13

13. Fold 3 x 30 centimeter wool cord pieces in half and glue these under the nose.

Tube Santa Tutorial 14

14. Then glue a couple more of folded wool cords over the previous 3.

Then glue wool cord that has been folded in half around the side of the nose as well as underneath the hat cuff all around the Santa.

Glue on the wiggly eyes when finished.

Tube Santa Tutorial 15

15. Glue the arms to the side of the Santa about 1 centimeter from the white trim and exactly on the line where the face meets the coat.

Tube Santa Tutorial 16

16. To create the base, first trace the tube circumference on a cut out cardboard box circle.

Tube Santa Tutorial 17

17. Then cut pie slits around the circle.

Tube Santa Tutorial 18

18. Fold these “pies” upwards so that they crease. Then fold them flat down again for the meantime.

Tube Santa Tutorial 19

19. Trace the cardboard circle on a piece of white felt and cut out.

Tube Santa Tutorial 20

20. Also trace the inner circle out.

Tube Santa Tutorial 21

21. Cut the inner circle out of the felt circle.

Tube Santa Tutorial 22

22. And glue it onto the cardboard circle.

Then hot glue the tube Santa over the circle, making sure the “pies” are within the tube.

Tube Santa Tutorial 23

23. Glue the second white cuff piece from step 5 at the base to cover the glue line and give it a nice finish.

Tube Santa Tutorial 24

24. Underneath, place glue or hot glue on the “pies” that are facing inwards towards the tube and press them against the tube. This gives the decoration extra stability when standing.
