In the Swedish language these bags are called “Jhärtkorgar”.
A highlight of the Swedish Christmas season is the holiday of St. Lucia which is celebrated on December 13th. It is the festival of light and the oldest daughter of each family becomes St. Lucia and wears a crown of candles on her head and is dressed in a white robe with a red sash at the waist. She goes through the town passing out Christmas cookies.
