Summer Crafts and Projects

Paper Crafts - Summer Crafts - Crafts for Kids - Sunshine Plant Stick

Let this cheerful paper sunshine brighten up any plant in the room. The bright yellow color really stands out and looks lively. Kids will have fun making this project and it is easy. Parents or supervisors can speed up the time by using a glue gun to attach the sun to the shishkabob stick.

Sunshine Plant Stick

For this project you will need:

- yellow construction paper
- small piece of yellow fun foam
- strong craft glue (must be able to adhere fun foam)
- 2 wiggly eyes
- round yellow half bead for nose
- fine line permanent pen
- shishkabob stick
- orange or yellow ribbon
- glue gun (supervision is required for kids)

Recommended Ages: 8 and up

Instructions:

1. Cut out a piece of yellow construction paper to the size of 10 x 20 cm or approximately 4 x 8 inches. Pleat the short ends so that the pleats each measure about 1.5 cm or 0.6 inches in width. Once pleated, fold the piece in half and open again. Pull the ends together on both sides so that it forms a circle. Glue the first half ends together and then the other half ends. Use paper clips to hold until the glue is dry.
2. Cut a fun foam circle out that measures 5 cm or 2 inches. Glue on the wiggly eyes and nose. Use a fine permanent pen and draw a mouth. Use a red color pencil to blush the cheeks.
3. Glue the fun foam circle onto the paper.
4. Glue the shishkabob stick to the backside of the sun. Glue a bow to the stick underneath the sun.
