Summer Crafts and Projects

Summer Craft - Cheery and Colorful Window Decoration

Paper napkins hardly get used for their original purpose here. There are just so many pretty designs and motifs that keep inspiring new projects. The best part about the technique is that you can practically alter anything. This project was made using a reverse paper napkin techniqe. That means that the paper napkin was not applied on the outside of an object, but rather inside and then with the right side down so that the pretty side is facing down so that it can be seen correctly on the outside.

Summer Window Decoration

For this project you will need:

- separable acrylic ball at least 9 centimeters in diameter
- paper napkin of choice (the napkin below was bought in a gift store in Germany so it may not be
  available in your area)
Paper Napkin With Flowers

- paper napkin glue or Modge Podge glue
- ribbon to hang and to create a bow
- hot glue gun

Instructions:

1. Remove all but the top layer of the paper napkin. Tear the napkin in different sized pieces. Open the acrylic ball and brush glue on the entire inside surface of both ball halves.
2. Cover the surface with the paper napkin pieces, making sure that the pretty side is facing downwards. After applying each piece, brush glue over the napkin again. If paper napkin pieces hang over the edge, that is fine. Once the glue is dry, simply cut the overhanging napkin away with scissors.
3. Repeat this procedure again for the second ball half. Once both halves are dried, snap them together. Make sure the hanging hole is lined up.
4. Tie a ribbon through the hole. Create a pretty bow using 2 different ribbons and then hot glue the ribbon to the ball.
