Paper Craft for Spring - Cheery Spring Welcome Sign

It is so easy to righten up any wall or door of your home. With a paper maché sign and colorful flower paper napkin motifs, you already have the basic items needed to create this project.

Spring Flowers Welcome Sign

For this project you will need:

- paper mache door sign (or create one out of wood)
Paper Maché Door Sign
- paper napkin with flower motifs
- paper napkin applique glue
- Sizzix™ Sidekick or Big Shot
- Sizzix™ Sizzlet “Wingo Zingo”® Alphabet Strip
- construction paper in matching colors to the flowers
- green and white acrylic paint
- crackle medium
- various flat paint brushes

Instructions:

1. First paint the sign green and let the paint dry.
2. Then paint crackle medium over the dried green paint and let it dry thoroughly before continuing to the next step.
3. Now paint white paint over the sign. Try to cover with even brush strokes and try to avoid painting over the same space twice. This will interfere with the crackling process. Almost immdiately you will notice the paint beginning to crack. This will continue until the paint is dry.
4. Die cut letters (or use colorful stickers if you don’t have a die cutting machine and cut out the word “welcome”. Adhere the letters to the center of the sign.
5. Now you can apply your napkin motifs. Remove all but the top layer of napkins and discard. Cut out the motifs from this top layer and then apply them to the sign using the paper napkin applique glue.
6. Brush a coat of Modge Podge on the sign to seal it and add lustre to it.
