Fall Craft for Kids - Paper Squirrel Window Decoration

Squirrels have a lot to do now before the winter sets in. Their supply of nuts and, pine cones and seeds needs to be well tucked in safety so they can find them when the snow is high. This little guy feels safe hanging in the window of a child’s bedroom, where he can watch his friends do their work outdoors.

Fall Craft for Kids - Paper Squirrel

For this project you will need:

- black construction paper
- brown transparent paper
- stick glue
- scissors or even better... a craft knife (parents should always supervise when the kids are using these
  items)
- hole puncher (to punch out a dot for the eye)
- paper clips to hold the construction paper together
- white pencil for transferring the markings onto black paper

Recommended Ages: 9 and older

Time required: about 30-45 minutes

Instructions:

1. Print out the pattern and create a permanent template by following the steps in this tutorial: How to Create Permanent Patterns and then transfer the markings onto black construction paper using a white pencil. Place a second same sized sheet of construction paper underneath the first one and paper clip them together so that they stay together when cutting through both layers.
2. Carefully cut through both layers of paper either using scissors or a craft knife.
3. Once both layers are cut, glue the brown transparent paper on the side of paper with the white markings. The tail is darker. To do this, glue a second layer of transparent paper over the first. Now take the second black cut out and glue it exactly over the first, concealing the transparent paper within.
