It is already important at a young age to introduce and involve kids in arts and crafts. Show the kids what they can create with their own two hands to give them a feeling of satisfaction and build their self confidence.
Tips for crafting with children:
Select a project that is not too difficult for your child. This prevents frustrating moments.
Your child enjoys your company while working on the project. Not only can you guide him or her if a problem occurs, but it also gives both of you quality time together to talk about what you did that day or how his or day at Kindergarten or school was.
It is very important to buy glue that is easy for children to use and has a small opening. Most children tend to use too much glue which can ruin an otherwise pretty project.
Make sure that cutting lines are good to see and buy the children scissors that cut well and are made for young hands.
Children are sometimes overwhelmed with expectations of perfection from their parents or supervisors. They would rather give up, when they feel like they are not fulfilling these high standards. Perfection will come with time and experience. Important is that they are having fun making their project.

Crafts using different materials:
Chenille Teddy Bear - Isn’t this bear adorable and cuddly! Chenille is the perfect material for creating this project and makes the bear almost look real. Kids will have fun with this project. He is also great to use as a puppet in a puppet show. This bear also looks great in other colors. Why not create a white bear as a polar bear, or a black and white panda bear? Recommended Ages: 9 and up
Paper Butterfly Suncatcher - Catch the sun’s rays with colorful butterflies! This is a fun paper craft project for children and a beautiful way to decorate the windows in the summer. By changing the colors or types of the papers used and by changing the size of the butterflies, kids can create a whole window full of these. This makes a great group project. These butterflies have a delicate look to them. Another alternative would to be to craft many smaller butterflies and then creating a mobile using them. It would almost seem like real dainty butterflies flying. Recommended Ages: 10 and up
Paper Tropical Fish Decoration - This tropical fish is a fun, colorful and cheery project for the kids to create in the summer and adds a touch of caribbean atmosphere to your home. If the parents or supervisors cut out the fish form, even the youngest of kids can help tear the papers and wad them into balls and glue them on the cardboard to decorate their fish. A stripe pattern is easy for the younger ages and older kids can create different patterns for their fish to make them more unique. Recommended Ages: 4 and up
Decopatch Paper Mache Cat - Meow! You can purchase paper mache animals in all types and sizes. It is fun and relaxing altering the animal into an unique piece of art. This cat would be a perfect gift for a cat lover and it is so fun to decorate with decopatch paper. Decopatch paper combined with decopatch glue is easy to use, the paper does not tear when wet and the glue does not soak through the paper. If you do not have decopatch paper, try using pretty wrapping paper combined with decopage glue. This project is especially fun for kids outside on the patio during the warm summer months. Recommended Ages: 10 and up
Origami Picture Frame - Kids like to collect pictures of their friends, animals or stars and kids also do a lot of drawings. All of these pictures will look great on display when put into a crafted frame that the child can make on its own. Very little time is required and the size of the frame varies depending on the size of the paper used. The most difficult about this project is choosing which of the beautiful papers available will be used to create it. Recommended Ages: 7 and up
Clay Pot Cow - This cute cow is a fun and easy craft project for kids. The project needs some time for the paint and glue to dry, but otherwise is completed within an afternoon. Parents may wish to help out and glue the head to the clay pot using hot glue. This will speed the drying process of the glue. Recommended Ages: 9 and up
Creating Colored Salt - Color Salt Votive Decoration - This is a fun craft project for kids in the summer. Not only will it keep them busy but it is also inexpensive to do. Recycle jam or mustard jars, let the kids create the color salt and then they can fill the glasses up in layers of colors. Recommended Ages: 6 and up
Sunshine Plant Stick - Let this cheerful paper sunshine brighten up any plant in the room. The bright yellow color really stands out and looks lively. Kids will have fun making this project and it is easy. Parents or supervisors can speed up the time by using a glue gun to attach the sun to the shishkabob stick. Recommended Ages: 8 and up

Pom-Pom Pig - The farm is no place for this adorable pig. He is in no mood to wallow out in the mud. Instead, he’d rather be decorating a child’s room. Pom-pom crafts are so much fun for kids and require minimal materials to create. Kids can be creative and come up with other animals to create. New ideas will be added soon to this website as well. Recommended Ages: 9 and up
Pom-Pom Apple Tree - Amazing what can be made out of pom-poms. This idea shows what you can create using green yarn. The apple tree looks almost real with its thick crown and juicy red apples and is fun for kids to craft using just a pom-pom, corrugated cardboard and wooden beds. Recommended Ages: 10 and up
Pom-Pom Jack o’ Lantern - It is the bewitching hour and this Jack o’ Lantern is observing the Halloween night with its spooky eyes. This project is completed within a half an hour and makes a cute decoration for the Halloween table or up on a shelf. Recommended Ages: 10 and up
