Crafting for Holidays - Christmas Craft -  Recycled Jar Hurricane Glass

Do not throw away those marmelade, pickle or any other jar anymore. You can use them to create an inexpensive, yet decorative hurricane glass to hold a tea light candle. These jars look country and charming make nice decorations... or even gifts.

Recycling Craft - Christmas Tea Light Hurricane Glass

For this project you will need:

- cleaned out jar (size of choice)
- red (or color of choice) acrylic or craft paint
- white paint
- one-sided self sticking foil
- star templates or star punches
- red checked ribbon (or color of choice)

Instructions:

1. First cut out or punch out stars of all shapes out of the adhesive foil and adhere these randomly to the jar.
2. Now completely paint over the jar, including over the stars. Once your paint has dry and you feel like it is still transparent, add a second coat and let it dry again. Otherwise continue to the next step.
3. Peel away the stickers to expose the star shape on the glass.
4. Add a tea light to the glass.
5. Tie a ribbon around the top of the jar and add a bow for decoration.

To make a simple ribbon bow to finish off the glass, you can follow these instructions: How to Make a Simple Bow
