Christmas and Winter Crafts

Christmas Crafts - Christmas Cards - Gift Giving Bear

Around the holidays the sewing and craft stores are full wonderful fabrics with Christmas designs. The difficulty is deciding which ones to buy. Not only can you sew many presents with these fabrics, but you can use the designs themselves to decorate other items such as cards or gift tags. This fabric had many different bear designs that were small enough to use as motifs for Christmas cards. A touch of glitter gives the card an elegant look when finished.

Gift Bear Christmas Card

For this project you will need:

- fabric with bear and holly motifs
- red corrugated cardboard
- dark green blank card
- white cardboard
- fusible web
- stick glue
- tacky glue
- glitter dimensional paint if desired
- scissors

Instructions:

1. Use a hot, dry iron to fuse web to the wrong side of the fabric. Cut 1 bear roughly out and two holly motifs exactly out. Remove paper backing from both pieces. Lay the motifs aside.
2. Lay the bear motif on the white cardboard with the fused side down. Fuse the bear motif to the white cardboard with the iron. Cut the motif now exactly out. This piece is then very stable.
3. Cut a piece of red corrugated cardboard and glue to the front of the green card.
4. Using the tacky glue, glue the bear on the red corrugated cardboard as seen in the picture.
5. Fuse the holly pieces directly onto the green card.
6. When desired, use the glitter dimensional paint on the bear and holly pieces to give the design a festive look. Let this dry 24 hours.
7. Glue the punched out paper stars randomly on the card.
