Gift Giving Bear Christmas Card

Around the holidays the sewing and craft stores are full wonderful fabrics with Christmas designs. The difficulty is deciding which ones to buy. Not only can you sew many presents with these fabrics, but you can use the designs themselves to decorate other items such as cards or gift tags. The fabric had a couple of different bear designs that were small enough to use as motifs for Christmas cards.

Gift Bear Christmas Card

For the above card you will need:

- square 13.5 x 13.5 cm card in an off-white color
- fabric (this fabric is from Daisy Kingdom and is called “Teddy Toss Trucks” - the fabric has two separate motifs to choose
from - see card below for another example)
- red, white and off-white cardstock
- embossing machine if desired and embossing plate (the one used for this card with the holly leaves is from Sizzix)
- fusible web
- stick glue
- craft glue
- sewing needle and sewing thread in a beige color
- pricking needle and pricking mat
- peel-off sticker with Christmas message
- scissors

Instructions:

1. Use a hot, dry iron to fuse web to the wrong side of the fabric. Cut the bear roughly out and also cut out a second dog. Remove paper backing from both pieces. Lay the motifs aside.
2. Lay the bear and dog motif on the white cardstock with the fused side down. Fuse the bear motif to the white cardstock with the iron. Cut the motifs now exactly out. This piece is then very stable to work with.
3. Emboss a second square just slightly smaller than the card itself if you like and adhere it to the card.
4. Cut a red oval and prick holes around the edge. You can also prick snowflake motifs within the oval if you choose. Take the needle and thread and stitch these holes. Now glue the oval to the card with stick glue or craft glue.
4. Using the craft glue, glue the bear on the red oval as seen in the picture. Use 3-D pads and stick them to the back of the second dog. Now adhere the dog over the dog on the fabric motif to give him extra dímension.
5. Stick the peel-off sticker message onto the card and you are finished.

Gift Bear Christmas Card 2
Another card made using the motifs on the fabric. The fabric had a little dog chasing the truck. That was also added to this card using 3-D pads. The wreath on the truck is also adhered with 3-D pads for extra dimension.
