Tree slices make decorative bases for natural Christmas decorations. Combined with a thick candle and evergreens, they can then be decorated according to your own style. Experiment with different materials such as cinnamon sticks, orange and apple slices, pine cones, walnuts, peanuts, chestnuts, etc... when decorating your tree slice. You can also make a ribbon bow to decorate it as well.

Instructions:
1. From underneath the tree slice, drill a hole through. Screw the screw in place. This will later help hold the candle in place. 2. Brush off your tree slice to get rid of any saw dust. 3. If desired, spray paint the pine cones so that they are slightly covered. 4. Take about 10 cm (6 inch pieces) of greenery and staple them in different directions on one side of the tree slice. 5. Once you feel that you have enough greenery, you may also choose to spray a bit of gold paint on the tips. 6. Lay cinnamon sticks on orange slices and use the wire to hold them together by wrapping the wire several times around them. 7. Arrange the orange slices, cinnamon sticks, pinecones and other items onto the greenery. When you feel it looks attractive, hot glue the items in place. 8. Set the candle over the screw. 9. You may choose to use angel hair to accent your decoration.
We received this tip from one of our crafty readers for drying orange or apple slices. “If you have a gas stove with a pilot light, you can leave your items in the oven to dry. This method is a little faster than the radiator method but not as fast as the microwave.”
