Christmas Craft - Recycling Craft - Fabric Covered Box
If you have leftover scraps of Christmas fabric and a few small boxes, why not get crafty and turn these into luxurious gift boxes. Not only do the boxes make great packaging, but are also so easy to do. Once complete, embellish as you like! You can also use this technique with paper instead of fabric. With the selection of pretty scrapbook paper out on the market, the hardest part will be choosing which paper you would like to have.

Christmas Fabric Craft - Fabric Covered Box to Use for a Gift

For this project you will need:

- Box of choice (the box here was a small
  “Whitman’s Sampler” box (chocolates)
- Christmas fabric of choice
- cardstock for template
- fusible web
- baking paper (for the ironing stage)

Instructions:

1. First you need to create a template like the one above. Measure the lid of the box. The white area of the example above represents this area. Draw this measurement on your template. To make the side walls, measure the side height. Multiply the height by 1.5 and you will get the measurement for the side (the grey areas).
2. Cut your template out and trace the measurements onto the paper side of the fusible web.
3. Cut the shape out of the fusible web and iron it on the backside of your chosen fabric.
Fusing Fabric Tutorial Let it cool.
4. Cut the fabric out along the fusible web edges. Lay the fabric centered on your box lid and iron the lid first, then the outside walls and then the inside walls.

Another idea is to create your own boxes. It is very easy! First you need to fuse fabric onto a piece of cardstock or used greeting card. Then follow the instructions in this tutorial to proceed.
