Spring and Easter Crafts for Kids - Paper Napkin Applique (decoupage) Easter Egg

You can create a easy Easter decoration by taking small empty branches and sticking them in a larger vase. Then create homemade Easter eggs to decorate the branches. This particular egg is created by taking simple plastic eggs and using the paper napkin applique technique to cover them.

Tip: You can also use real eggs. To blow out an egg, you need to first wash the outside of the egg with hot water. Then poke a hole through the top and bottom with a needle and enlarge the hole some. Insert a straw through the hole and blow the inside yolk and egg white out. Rinse through the hole with hot water to clean the inside of the egg out.

Easter Craft for Kids - Decoupage Easter Egg Using Paper Napkins 2

For this project you will need:

- Paper napkin applique glue
- paper napkin with small motifs
- plastic eggs or blown out and cleaned real egg shells
- toothpick

Ages 7 and older

Instructions:

Follow these instructions Paper Napkin Applique / Decoupage. If your plastic egg is white, you may skip the step of basepainting the item white. Otherwise you will need to put 1 coat of white acrylic paint on the egg. This ensures that the napkin colors will look brilliant and not foggy.

To hang then the egg, tie a string or wire around the middle of a small piece of toothpick. Insert the toothpick then in one of the holes and turn so that it remains in the egg.
