Paper Craft for Spring - Decopatch Paper Maché Rooster

This paper maché rooster was once a bland figure on a store shelf. Now he is a proud and colorful feathered friend and is happy to make his home on a new shelf in the kitchen. Using the decopatch technique on simple paper mache figures is really like painting these items with paper. It is very easy and fun and even the kids can get involved. The figures do not be primed or base coated so so you can immediately start your project.

Decopatch Rooster

For this project you will need:

- paper mache rooster figure
- decopatch paper in various colors of reds, browns, oranges, yellows and greens
Decopatch Paper for Rooster

- decopatch glue
- two black sequins for eyes
- jewel glue

This is how the rooster looked before his alteration.

Instructions:

1. Tear the decopatch paper out in different size pieces. Larger pieces for larger areas and smaller pieces for more delicate sections such as the beak, comb, etc.
2. Apply decopatch glue to the portion of the rooster to be covered and then press the paper into the glue. Now add more glue to the paint brush and “paint” the paper with decopatch glue. This seals the paper and gives it a nice shine afterwards when dry.
3. Overlap this piece with another piece of paper and apply in the same manner. Keep adding more paper in the appropriate colors until the entire rooster is covered.
