Decopatch Bangle

Sometimes you may become in possession of large cardboard tubes. Maybe you have purchased ribbon with such a large roll or sometimes difficult yarn gets sold on such a cardboard tube as well. Or you needed masking tape for the recent paint job on walls in your home and the roll is empty. These tubes actually resemble bangles and even fit over the hand to wear on the wrist. Because a lot of knitting gets done around here, there were a few of these tubes left over. It was a shame to throw them away so a couple of these actually became bangles.

Instructions:

1. Tear the Decopatch paper in many pieces. The best is not to use very large pieces as these tend to wrinkle when being glued around curves.

2. Start by brushing glue on an area of the cardboard tube. Then place a piece of paper over the glue and brush glue over the paper again to seal it. Continue in this manner until the entire tube is covered. Also glue around the top and bottom edge to adhere a bit of paper on the inside of the tube as well. This will guarantee that the edge of the tube is covered.

3. To cover up the inside, cut a long strip of paper that is the same exact height of the tube and the length plus 1 centimeter overlap. Glue this strip on the inside of the tube to cover up all of the overhanging pieces from the front.

Having Decopatch paper at our location made it easy to immediately start. If you cannot purchase Decopatch paper and glue where you live, you can substitute them with other thin printed paper and decoupage glue.

These are really fun to decorate and no two will be alike.
