Spring and Easter Crafts for Kids - Craft Stick Easter Chick

Another cute and easy Easter project for kids using craft sticks. Chicks are adorable Easter motifs and this idea will be fun for children to create.  When the children have completed their chicks, your help as a parent or provider is necessary to complete the chick because the usage of a glue gun and a drill is necessary.

Easter Crafts for Kids - Cute Craft Stick Easter Chick

For this project you will need:

- craft stick
- yellow and white acrylic paint
- black magic marker
- small piece of red construction pape
- very small paint brush
- thin red ribbon
- gel glue
- 3 fuzzy yellow feathers
- drill with 1.5 mm bit
- hot glue gun

Instructions:

1. First you must paint each side of the craft stick yellow and let it dry. This takes about 10 minutes for each side at the most.
2. Use the black magic marker and dot on 2 eyes. Take the paint brush and use the stick end. Dip it into the white paint and dot a small dot on each eye. This resembles light reflections. You can continue with the chick, but be careful to let these dots dry without touching them.
3. Cut a small diamond shape out of the red construction paper and fold it in half. Glue the folded edge under the eyes.
5. Tie a piece of ribbon around the stick where the neck should be and knot is.

This is where parents should help:

6. Glue 3 feathers to the backside of the chick using hot glue. One feather should be pointing up and the other 2 should be pointing to each side of the craft stick to look like wings.
7. Drill a small hole in the top of the head. Pull a piece of thread for hanging through the hole and knot it off.
