Christmas Crafts for Kids - Clay Pot Angel

With mini clay pots, kids can create the cutest figures for Christmas, like this angel, for example. With a little bit of imagination, they can create a whole chorus of angels. Each can have her own instrument or song books created out of paper. This particular angel sparkles with glitter to make her extra special.

Clay Pot Angel Craft

For this project you will need:

- small terracotta clay pot
- 3 cm wooden ball
- white acrylic paint
- textured snow paste
- iridescent glitter
- white wool or cotton ball for the hair
- white chenille stems for the wings and arms
- 2 x 6mm wooden balls for the hands
- red and black dimensional paint
- hot glue gun

Ages 7 and older

Attention: Always use precaution while using a hot glue gun. Parents should be supervising children while gluing the pieces together.

Instructions:

1. Paint the clay pot with white acrylic paint and let it dry. Paint then the snow texture paint over the white and sprinkle iridescent glitter over the still wet texture paste. Let this thoroughly dry. It dries faster if placed in a warm room. This still may take a couple of hours.
2. Once dry, glue the wooden ball to the top of the clay pot.
3. Take one piece of chenille stem and wrap it around the front of the figure covering the “neck”. Pull the ends around the back and twist and bring the ends to the front again for arms. Cut the excess length away and add the 2 small wooden balls for hands.
4. Cut the second chenille stem to a desired length. Make a figure-8 out of the 2nd piece of chenille and glue to the back of the angel for wings.
5. Glue a piece of wool or cotton ball to the top of the head and adjust the hair-do.
6. Dot 2 eyes on the face with black dimensional paint and draw a small smile with the red dimensional paint. Let dry.

This project needs a bit of time due to the drying time of the paint and structure paste.
