Christmas Crafts for Kids - Recycling Craft - Colorful Votive for Kids to Craft
Ages 5 and older
The long winter evenings are chilly and dark. There is no better way to spend them than crafting with your children. Maybe this would be a nice gift to give to a grandmother? This particular craft is inexpensive because you are recycling kitchen jars and fun for kids to make. Not only is it very colorful, it makes a wonderful warm light. With just tearing and gluing, even kindergarten aged children can help make it. This project make also a fun group project for a day care center.

Supplies needed:
- Any glass jar - translucent paper in different colors - decoupage glue or premixed wallpaper glue
|

Instructions:
1. Wash the jars out in hot water and soap. 2. Tear the translucent paper in long, thin strips. 3. Follow the package instructions for mixing wallpaper glue or use a ready made decoupage glue and apply a generous amount to the dry glass. 4. Add one strip at a time starting from the bottom. Once on, apply glue over the strip as well and add the next strip overlapping a bit over the first strip. 5. Continue in this matter until the whole glass is covered. 6. Let the glass thoroughly dry and insert a tea light.
