Berlin Zoo The Berlin zoo is a beautiful green retreat in the heart of the city. The Berlin Zoo made it into the world headline news in 2006 and 2007 because of the famous polar bear Knut who was abandoned by his mother and hand raised by zoo employees. Knut is as of August 2007 already a “teenager” bear and weighs 60 kilograms. The zoo has about 1440 (+,-) different species of animals, birds and fish and below is just a small selection of the animals to be found at the zoo.
