1. You need a cookbook, a bamboo mat, scissors, a paper napkin with an Asian motif, paper napkin decoupage glue and a soft wide paint brush.
2. First place the mat around the book and make sure it fits. There should be enough width so that it can be folded in the front and back cover of the cook book.
3. If the mat is too high for the book, measure the necessary height and mark the cutting line with a pencil.
4. Cut the excess mat away.
5. This is now the mat for the book plus an extra piece that you can use later for the tea light glass.
6. Place the book centered onto the mat. Place double-sided adhesive on the front and back cover of the book. First remove the protective paper from the adhesive on the front side press the mat onto the adhesive.
7. Open the front of the book and also place a vertical piece of adhesive inside the front cover and press the overlap of the mat onto this adhesive.
8. Remove the protective paper from the adhesive on the back cover of the book. Wrap the mat around the backside of the book and press it onto the book. Just as you did with the front, open the back cover up and place a verticle piece of adhesive along the inside cover and press the overlap inside the book.
9. Now you have a gorgeous cover for your book.
10. To embellish the cover, tear a motiv out of a paper napkin you wish to use. Remove all but the top layer of a paper napkin.
11. Place the napkin centered onto the book.
12. Brush on the glue onto the napkin by starting at the middle of the napkin and working your way to the outside edges on all sides. Be sure to catch the grooves of the mat at the same time.
13. Continue until the entire napkin is adhered to the book.
14. While the glue is still wet, use the brush and lightly go over the grooves again if some were missed. Now set the book aside and let it dry thoroughly.
15. With the remaining strip of mat that was cut away from the book, you can add a clear double-sided adhesive to the backside and adhere it to a glass. Place the adhesive on the mat piece and remove the paper backing and then press it onto the glass and cut to fit.
