Vacation Saving Can

This once was a can containing cacoa and when it became empty, it just seemed too good to throw away. The brown lid gave it a masculine look so it was then decorated accordingly to match the lid. Once complete, this can is a good place to put loose change and help save for future vacation. The motifs embellishing this project, a old world sailing map and sailing ships already have a feeling of getting out and travelling.

For this project you will need:

- round container with a lid
- scrapbook paper with an ancient sea travel map and sailing ships
- beige textured cardstock
- die cutting machine
- scallop and circle dies in various sizes (here dies from Spellbinders were used for this project)
- jute ribbon
- rope
- 2 wooden beads, 1.5 cm in diameter
- double sided adhesive
- 3-D foam tape
- craft glue

Instructions:

1. Use double sided adhesive to wrap the bottom half of the can with the scrapbook paper.
2. Cover the top half of the can with the beige textured cardstock.
3. Apply a thin coat of glue to the center of the beige paper and then adhere jute ribbon to it.
4. Wrap rope then around the same area and tie it off in a knot. Insert each end into a wooden bead and knot the end so that the beads do not fall off.
5. Die cut a beige circle and glue it to the rope. Then die cut a scallop containing a sailing ship and use 3-D foam tape to adhere it to the circle.
6. To decorate the lid, first die cut a scallop from the map paper that is large enough to cover the lid. Then die cut a beige circle smaller than the scallop and adhere it to the scallop. Then die cut a scallop containing a sailing ship and adhere it to the center of the circle using 3-D foam tape.
