Fun Tropical Tag

This tag feels like a tropical summer breeze and was really fun to make using the scrapbook paper mentioned to the left and other basic card and papercraft supplies. This tag is a perfect embellishment to a scrapbook page from your last summer holiday. The shaker button adds a lot of dimension and sparkle to the tag, too.

Tag Craft - Tropical Tag Fun

For this project you will need:

- Making Memories 6x6 “Embellishment Paper™” scrapbook paper pad “Tropical Travel”. Pad contains 48 sheets of 6 designs.
You need one sheet of the flowers design and one sheet of the pink design
- thick cardstock or an empty cereal box
- small piece of acetate foil for the button
- iridescent glitter flakes for the button filling
- 3-D foam tape
- kiwi green sewing thread and needle
- thin silver wire
- 3 x 6mm faceted acrylic beads
- pink fiber
- rubber stamp letters “F, U, and N”
- green pigment stamp pad
- embossing powder
- heat embossing tool or toaster to emboss the letters
- stick glue
- hole puncher, eyelet and eyelet tool
- clear tape
- double sided adhesive

Instructions:

1. First, cover the entire tag with the flower scrapbook mentioned in the supply list above.
2. Cut a piece of pink scrapbook paper to measure the width of the tag and about 3.5 cm high. Lay this piece at the bottom of your tag and poke evenly spaced holes down the side, the bottom and up the other side through the paper and the tag. Stitch the holes with a doubled green thread.
3. Cut a rectangle out that measures 6 x 2.5 cm. Stamp “FUN” on it and emboss. Punch a hole through both this piece and the tag and add an eyelet to the hole and close the eyelet off using an eyelet tool. Add a piece of fiber to finish the hole off.
4. Poke a hole now just above the pink strip on your tag and at the top of the tag. See the tag picture for placement. Gather the 3 acrylic beads on the wire and then insert the wire ends through these holes and secure on the backside with tape.

Tag Craft - Tropical Tag Fun - Detail of Button

To Make the Button:
To make the button, cut two 3.75 cm (2.5 inches) circles out of the flower paper. Cut also a 3.75 cm (2.5 inches) circle out of the acetate foil. In one of the paper circles, cut a hole out in center of it that measures 2.5 cm (1 inch). Flip this circle ring over and adhere the acetate foil to it with small strips of double sided adhesive. Make sure the strips cannot be seen from the front side of the ring. With the ring still with the good side down, cut strips of foam tape so they are thin enough and completely cover the acetate covered ring. Now you have a deeper area in the center in which you can fill the glitter flakes. Once you have added the flakes, remove the protective backing from the foam tape and add the second paper circle face down to cover it. Make sure the pretty side of the paper is on the inside so that you can see it through the acetate foil. Flip the button over to see the results. Add it using double sided adhesive to the tag.
