Illustrated Craft Tutorial - Different Techniques for Creating Motifs for Cards, Scrapbooks and Paper Crafts Using Fabric Motifs, Paper Napkins and  Wrapping Paper -

Part One: Creating Stickers Using Paper Napkins, Wrapping Paper, Used Cards, etc...

Paper napkins, wrapping paper and used cards that have motifs on them can be used to create embellishments for your paper craft projects. These tutorials will show you how to create stickers using double-sided adhesive paper or tape.

 

 

Creating Stickers Using Paper Napkins and Double-Sided Adhesive Paper:
Any size napkin can be used as long as it fits within the dimensions of the paper.

1. All you need is a napkin motif of choice that has been roughly torn out, scissors and a double-sided adhesive paper of choice.

2. Peel off one side of the adhesive and place the napkin motif onto the sticky side.

3. Cut the motif exactly out.

4. Peel away the other protective paper, revealing the second sticky side.

Now you can stick your motif onto any surface you choose.

Tip:
You are not limited to using the stickers for only cards and scrapbooks. To the left you can see that the stickers can also be used to embellish flower pots. But also mirrors, books, wood and glass can be decorated with stickers as well.

 

 

 

Creating Stickers Using Paper Napkins and Double-Sided Adhesive Tape: For this technique, you can only use small motifs that will fit within the width of the tape. Actually the technique is the same as above.

1. You need a roll of double-sided tape.

2. You also need a paper napkin of choice with small motifs as well as a pair of scissors.

3. Cut or tear the chosen motif out.

4. Cut out a piece of tape that is slightly larger than the actual motif you will be using.

5. Place the motif onto the sticky side of the cut piece of tape.

6. Cut the motif exactly out.

7. This is the backside of the motif. Peel away the paper.

8. And adhere the motif to any surface.

Tip:
You are not limited to using the stickers for only cards and scrapbooks. Here you can see that the stickers can also be used to embellish jars as well. Any other surface such as mirrors, books, wood and flower pots can also be embellished with the stickers.

Creating Stickers Using Wrapping Paper or Other Sources and Double-Sided Adhesive Tape or Paper: Like the techniques above, you can also expand your motif possibilities by looking around the house for other paper items like wrapping paper, for example, that can be used to create stickers.

1. Select a wrapping paper with motifs that you like. Here African animals were the theme of this paper.

2. Cut around a motif and place it on the backside of your double-sided adhesive paper or double-sided adhesive tape.

3. Now you can cut the motif exactly out.

4. This is the backside of the motif. When you are ready to use it, you can peel off the protective paper and then adhere the motif to anything you like.

5. Here the motif was placed on a glass. But you can stick it to books, wood, paper, scrapbooks, cards, etc...

Tip:
You are not limited to wrapping paper using this technique. Consider using used greeting cards, magazines, books, calendars, newspapers, pamphlets, postcards, etc... to create motifs for your upcoming projects.

Creating Embellishments Using Printed Vellum: With vellum you can create either stickers or more sturdy motifs, depending on your needs.

1. All you need are motifs from a sheet of printed vellum, scissors and either Aslan (an one-sided adhesive for sturdy motifs) or double-sided adhesive sheet or tape (if you wish to create stickers.)

2. Cut out the motifs you wish to use in a square or rectangular shape. Cut out a piece of either one-sided or double-sided adhesive about the same size.

3. Press the vellum onto the adhesive.

4. Cut the motifs exactly out. For stickers, peel off the backside of the double-sided adhesive when you are ready to use them

5. For sturdier motifs to use as embellishments, place 3-D pads on the backside of the vellum pieces.

6. When you are ready to use the motifs, peel away the protective paper from the 3-D pads and adhere to the underground of choice.

Paper napkins with motifs are almost a shame to use for dining alone. There are so many pretty and artistic motifs for all seasons of the year and these can be used for embellishments for cards and scrapbooks, too.

Most paper napkins are 2 or 3 ply. When creating any of these projects, only the top motif layer of the napkin is needed. Discard the white layers.
