1. Cut two 42 cm x 42 cm white cotton fabric squares and zig-zag the edges with the sewing machine to prevent any fraying.
2. Print out the template to the largest size possible. If you turn the template 90° before printing, you can print it out even larger. The distance of the labrador is about 9-10 centimeters from the edge of the pillow when placed on the pillow center.
Trace the template on the paper side of the fusible web and cut around the image. You do not have to cut the template exactly out at this point.
3. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and iron the fusible web (paper side up) to the backside of a piece of black cotton fabric. Let the image cool.
4. Then cut the labrador exactly out and remove the paper backing. Now the backside of the image has a thin layer of “glue” that will adhere to fabric when ironed on it.
5. Place the labrador motif then centered on the front of one of the pillow case squares and iron it. Let the image cool before continuing.
6. Use a small zig-zag stitch and zig-zag around the entire dog motif.
If you want, pin cut away stabilizer on the backside of the image. Then on the front side of the pillow case you will use a small zig-zag stitch and zig-zag completely around the dog.
Turn the square over and then you can cut away the stabilizer around the stitches.
7. Place the pillow case right sides facing each other and pin the edges together.
8. Sew around the pillow case using a 1 centimeter seam allowance. Remember...
9. ... to leave an opening so you can insert the pillow afterwards.
10. Clip the corners away so they will look better when the pillow is turned.
Turn the pillow case to the right side and iron, if necessary.
Stuff the pillow as soft or as firm as you like.
11. To close the opening, use an invisible stitch.
First knot your thread inconspiciously to the bottom seam.
12. Then go directly upwards to the other seam side and insert the needle and go about 5 millimeters to the left, and bring the needle back out again.
13. Then you will go directly downwards to the bottom seam and insert the needle and go about 5 millimeters to the left and bring the needle back out again.
Pull the thread as you go to close the seam.
Continue in this manner. You will go again upwards as in step 12 and then downwards as in step 13 and keep repeating until you reach the end of the opening.
14. You will notice the seam is being closed without the thread being seen.
