Crafts for Kids
Dear Crafter,
Already at a young age, children love to make things and work with their hands. It is not easy for them at the beginning to cut with the scissors or draw a straight line, but it is amazing what those little hands can still do. With practice and within time, the child's skills will improve. Encourage the child to craft as often as possible. With each finished project, the sense of accomplishment is so positive and the child will continue to enjoy crafting for years to come and maybe develop its own creative ideas.
Tips for crafting with children:
Select a project that is not too difficult for your child. This prevents frustrating moments.
Your child enjoys your company while working on the project. Not only can you guide him or her if a problem occurs, but it also gives both of you quality time together to talk about what you did that day or how his or day at Kindergarten or school was.
It is very important to buy glue that is easy for children to use and has a small opening. Most children tend to use too much glue which can ruin an otherwise pretty project.
Make sure that cutting lines are good to see and buy the children scissors that cut well and are made for young hands.
Children are sometimes overwhelmed with expectations of perfection from their parents or supervisors. They would rather give up, when they feel like they are not fulfilling these high standards. Perfection will come with time and experience. Important is that they are having fun making their project.
