Christmas Craft Projects - Tree Slice Floral Christmas Decoration

Experiment with different materials such as cinnamon sticks, orange and apple slices, pine cones, walnuts, peanuts, chestnuts, etc... when decorating your tree slice. You can also make a ribbon bow to decorate it as well.

Tree slices make decorative bases for natural Christmas decorations. Combined with a thick candle and evergreens, they can then be decorated according to your own style.

Supplies needed:

- a tree slice about 2-3 cm thick (around 1
  -1 1/4inches)
- a large candle
- hot glue gun
- a sturdy stapler (the kind that opens up to
  staple also into verticle objects)
- gold spray if desired
- red angel hair if desired
- drill with 3.2 mm bit
- wood screw 3.5 cm x 35mm
- thin gold wire

Floral Decoration for the Holidays

Instructions:

1. From underneath the tree slice, drill a hole through. Screw the screw in place. This will later help hold the candle in place.
2. Brush off your tree slice to get rid of any saw dust.
3. If desired, spray paint the pine cones so that they are slightly covered.
4. Take about 10 cm (6 inch pieces) of greenery and staple them in different directions on one side of the tree slice.
5. Once you feel that you have enough greenery, you may also choose to spray a bit of gold paint on the tips.
6. Lay cinnamon sticks on orange slices and use the wire to hold them together by wrapping the wire several times around them.
7. Arrange the orange slices, cinnamon sticks, pinecones and other items onto the greenery. When you feel it looks attractive, hot glue the items in place.
8. Set the candle over the screw.
9. You may choose to use angel hair to accent your decoration.
