1. Cut 3 or 4 pieces of yarn three times longer than the length you need. Place all pieces together and find the middle. Hang the loop on a door knob. If you have someone who can assist you, that person can hold this end but must not let it go while creating the cord.

2. Tie the other end into a knot and insert your knitting needle needle or pencil in the knotted end of the loop. Start turning the needle and continue turning until your yarn pieces are tightly woven in one another. This will take a couple of minutes and keep turning until the cording seems to start to knot. It has to feel really tight to be effective. At this point comes the tricky part. Now both ends (the knotted end and the loop hanging on the doorknob must be put together. Carefully place both ends together now. When you do this, both ends will twist within one another thus creating a cord. Rub the length of the cording between your hands to make sure all points are connected. Cut the excess yarn away at the knot point without cutting the knot, or the cording will unravel.
